This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. If Strategy, Multiplayer, Co-op is your thing, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution delivers it without much filler. The pitch — Command any of the six unique factions in the next standalone expansion of the — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution leans hard into Strategy, Multiplayer, Co-op, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. On paper it is Command any of the six unique factions in the next standalone expansion of the, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. I will be back for another run.
