I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. The Strategy, Multiplayer, Co-op mix is what kept me playing; Total War: SHOGUN 2 knows what it wants to be. On paper it is Total War: SHOGUN 2 is the perfect mix of real-time and turn-based strategy, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

The pitch — Total War: SHOGUN 2 is the perfect mix of real-time and turn-based strategy — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.
